According to the EurId.eu's statistics there are currently 2,651,547 registered .eu domains. Germany leads the way in total number of .eu domains totaling 844,318 registrations. The sunrise period, open to trademark holders wanting to register their brands and company names, was launched in December 2005. This was followed up by the landrush free-for-all in April 2006.
