Recently Jeffrey Behrendt from DomainBits.com posted his thoughts about domain name development verses parking and how he is getting back into the practice of "Pure Domaining." While I hold a sincere respect for Jeff and his work, I just can't let him get away with saying that, "developing is just a nice addition" to domaining.

While he's certainly entitled to his opinion and to have his own domaining strategy, I believe his post "Don't Drink The 'Develop Your Domains' Kool-Aid" may undermine and mislead some domainers out there who are trying to decide when and how to invest their time and energy towards learning about web development. I realize Jeff is just trying to send out a warning to domainers who are considering development to help them create a stream of consistent passive income and informing them that they may not know what they are going to be up against, but I really believe that that kind of fear instillation is unnecessary and really does more harm than good to the overall development of the web. Especially now days, things are changing way too fast in the developing world to view building as a high risk endeavor. You're leaving more than you realize on the table by hesitating and waiting to develop your unique stake on the web.
