Domain name always be a represent to brand or business services of company. Domain name plays a very significant job in whole search engine optimization of web site. If we see previous there was no weight in selecting domain name, but now SEO tips and tricks have demonstrated the importance of a correct domain name now days Google is able to find the different keywords in domain name and thus drive up the site in search engine results.

Choose your domain according to your business services, which is relevant to your business and easily spoken by any human tongue, keep it simple and easy to speak, this will be advantageous in a SEO professional this is because when your domain name will become a brand it can be easily learnt by the peoples. Domain name also depends on geographical location of your business. If your business is global I strongly recommend to choose .COM sites because people remember only .COM although there are other alternative such as .NET, .ORG etc if you have localized business and provide your business service only in specific area, you can choose your domain name to country specific, example .CO.IN. But what I preference is you should choose .COM for your site.

Example: - If two companies offering same services and have same domain name like abc.com and abc.net. Here people will more preference to abc.com because .com is just crowded on peoples tongue and side by if you but abc on browser navigation bar and use CTRL + Enter it will take you to the abc.com site and exclude abc.net.

Choose your domain with unique IP address, now day what is happening, professionals are choosing shared IP address to save money. I read in a article that only 3 to 5% of sites are using unique IP address and Google give more preference to Unique IP address sites in there search results. Now days hosting are quite cheaper so choose a unique IP address and make better chance to be in a Google search results.

Now day on NET what I am seeing, SEO professionals are buying a domain which is elder by hosting sites this is provides several benefits as older domain name is already known to people hence provide good search as it is not in Google Sand box.

Google Sandbox: It is series of filters applied to new sites for not to rank well in search engine or rank only for specific niche keywords ex only for domain name.

While registering the domain name age factor is considered by Google and give more weight to older domains. So I prefer to take at least 2 years registration if I am taking new domain.
