Example Of How Trendwatching Can Benefit Domainers

It all started with our favorite Italian plumber. In March, an artist known as Pixeloo photoshopped and posted what Mario would look like if he were real. Thus Untooning was born. A few days later he completed Homer, and by the time he finished Jessica Rabbit in April, a trend was in full swing. Other popular characters were getting the untooning treatment, including Marge Simpson, Sonic, Bowser, Peter and Stewie Griffin, Betty Boop and the Little Mermaid (Google em).

Some of these look creepy, but you have to admit that they’re interesting.

Though untoon.com and untooned.com were taken, I was surprised to see untooning.com to be available still. Sorry, I had to snatch that one up. But it’s yet another trend that has legs. If it keeps this up, it could hit mainstream media. And if it does, I’ll have one of the top domain names for it (not that it would make me rich). This is just another example of how keeping up with real world trends can put you ahead of the pack.
