Top Domain Name News Stories - March 2008

March was another big month for domain name industry news. Here’s a recap of the top stories.

March was a record traffic month at Domain Name Wire. The stats counter shows a total of 132,000 visits and 450,000 page views include RSS reads. Here’s a recap of what drew the most attention in March, ranked by page views:

1. Google Lets Advertisers Opt-Out of Domain Parking - we knew it was coming, but the shoe dropped in March. Google (GOOG) advertisers can now opt-out of having ads show on parking pages. Parked pages show ads from both the content network and search network, so when advertisers opted out of the content network in the past it didn’t hurt domain parking that much. Everyone has an opinion on this move, as the 59 comments and pingbacks on the topic show. Special thanks to all of the search advertisers who added their views. (59 comments)

2. U.S. Copyright Registry Scam - another day, another scam targeting domain name owners. Judging by the number of people hitting this article from Google by searching for the scam, it appears to be widespread. (10 comments)

3. How to Develop your Domain Names - Fast The domain industry can’t stop talking about development. This article discusses XsitePro, an easy application to rapidly develop domain names into web sites. (19 comments)

4. Senate Anti-Phishing Bill - Oh yeah, it’s a big deal. The good news is that major organizations are speaking out about it, including Electronic Frontier Foundation. If you haven’t joined the domain industry’s voice, Internet Commerce Association, you need to now. (28 comments)

5. What’s Hot and What’s Not - a look at hot and cold trends in the domain name industry. (20 comments)

you get so much unique visitors + page views is only because of the right information @ right time is provided by your blog. Domainers and bloggers are very eager to earn from their domains to build a big portfolio. so far parking is considered to be the only option. As we have to concentrate in search of domain registration. we didnt have time to build websites, more over they are costly. a problem in parking hurts domainers

    Best Regards

Because of the crazy prices being fetched for 1 word domain names, industry experts indicate the demand for 2 word names is really picking up. 2 Word resllers ArrowBranding.com & HugeDomains.com are seeing record sales for their 2 and 3 word combinations. Analysts predict most decent 2 word combos will be gobbled up by the end of the decaade.
