Billboards and Domain Names

For the last 2 weeks we took to the road and visited a number of colleges that my son is interested in attending. As I drove for hours at a time, I got the opportunity to see marketing at it’s worst. It amazes me that companies spend both time and money only to come up with billboards that do not give the person viewing it a quick and easy way to remember them. Most of the billboards did have domain names listed on them. The problem with these advertisements were that they domains were so long and confusing, they could not be remembered. The bottom line is if your going to spend all that money investing in a billboard, get someone in charge that understands why a good generic domain should be used. Otherwise your not getting the benefit of the viewer visiting your website for reenforcement of your product.
